Muottituote buys the injection moulding business unit from Karhumuovi Oy
”Same idea as Rapala deal”
Rauma based Muottituote Group Oy buys the injection moulding business unit from Karhumuovi Oy. Deal will be finalized 23rd of December 2024.
Karhumuovi has been founded in 1952 at Pori and in year 2017 it merged its business with Kayak Sport. Since then Karhumuovi has had own products and subcontracting business of injection moulding to different customers.
Business deal includes all injection moulding subcontracting business to existing customer as well as subcontracting business for Kayak Sport products.
Main shareholder of Karhumuovi Oy, Marko Bryggare will focus on development of Kayak Sport own products. Kayak Sport has 35 years of experience in products and 90% of its business is exported abroad.
– Main focus has been in development of own products and manufacturing of those. Now we can put 100% of the resources to that. Muottituote is bigger and stronger in injection moulding with lot of competence. We have made an agreement that all Kayak Sport products will be manufactured at Muottituote in future, says Bryggare.
Muottituote made similar acquisition in the beginning of the year in Korpilahti. Fishing products manufacturer Rapala sold its injection moulding business to Muottituote with similar long term agreement.
– Rapala deal has been successful. Customer is happy and so are we. We have been making investments to new machines at Korpilahti and currently we are refurbishing office area in there. Same idea we have with Karhumuovi. We want growth and development. From Karhumuovi we are getting good machines, competence and new important customer, says Jukka Nurmi, chairman of the board at Muottituote.
Karhumuovi factory will be relocated from Pori to Rauma to existing facility of Muottituote before the summer 2025. Personnel will move to Muottituote with existing terms.

– Customer service of Karhumuovi customers will continue as before. Existing operation manager, Marko Lehtonen will be appointed as technical director of Muottituote, tells Nurmi.
Muottituote Group Oy is a family owned company, established in 1973 at Rauma. Currently it has factories also in Joensuu and Korpilahti. It has turnover of 11,6 M€ (9/2024) and still planning to grow more. Muottituote wants to be a leading mould maker and injection moulding subcontractor of Scandinavia.
